SeaDataNet infrastructure plays a paramount role in the advancement of knowledge on marine environment and exploitation of data and products, by supporting the scientific community through the networking activity and by attracting young people to science. SeaDataNet contributes effectively to the knowledge triangle formed by research, education and innovation
SeaDataNet Virtual Educational Centre (SVEC) provides basic tools for formal (e.g. University) as well as informal education to expand analytical and technical skills, foster the use of web technologies, data sets and models to understand the ocean science, allow improved data interpretation and analysis, create links with Universities.
SeaDataNet Virtual Educational Centre aims at the improvement of students learning experience by contributing to:
- cultural preparation to address complex problems;
- development of ability to use scientific method in data management;
- critical evaluation of the integrity and robustness of data;
- critical evaluation of their consequent interpretation or conclusion.
